The inaugural session of our first ever Writing Hour is coming up on Saturday 14th March for writers of all kind that would like to write in the peaceful surroundings of our book room.
For one hour from 10:30am to 11:30am you’re welcome to join us for a quiet writing session to work on whatever you’re writing, be it a novel, an essay or a letter.
It’s free to attend and there’s no need to book.

In this vital and visceral novel, Brigid Lowe casts ancient light on desire, sex and our relationship with nature to bring these Celtic heroines to explosive, sensuous, blossoming new life.
Join us as we welcome Brigid Lowe to Chapter One to discuss her new book The Bloody Branch, a retelling of the interweaving stories of Blodeuwedd, Goewin and Arianrhod, three powerful women of the Mabinogion.
Please note, there are two options for booking, one is ticket only at £5 and the other includes ticket and a copy of the book for £17.

Come and join our friendly community and develop a practice that helps keep you moving and healthy. Here are a few words from her students:
“Welcoming, calming, nourishing and wonderful Yoga! I came away with so much more space in my mind and body.”
“Your teachings have reminded me of the vital connection between movement, breath and mental clarity. Yoga has become an essential part of my self-care. Thank you”.

Whether you’re a poet, a playwright, a novelist – or something else – the group will provide a chance to build a writing community for an area flourishing with creativity!
Our sessions are on the fourth Saturday of every month from 10:30-12 noon with our next being on Saturday 28th March.

Award-winning local poet, Mark Lewis is launching his new poetry collection Anchor & Wing at Chapter One on Friday 10th April at 6pm.
Join us for a reading and Q&A from Mark as we celebrate the publication of his book.
“Anchor and Wing establishes Mark Lewis as a lyrical wordsmith, with a deep love of language rooted in the bardic heritage of Wales, though shapeshifting, taking flight, as blackbird, robin or firefly. He is clearly a poet’s poet and a human’s human, ‘heart buzzing like a bombilation of bees’”
Emma Baines, poet and translator
